The Last Princess at Princess Ballet is...

Well, I was kind of wondering if they were going to let the girls pick the princess they'd like to be...we were there early, and Emma was excited to go help Ms. Brittany lay out the costumes...
...a little girl's dream...
"Ariel is my favorite," Emma says, when I asked her which costume she would pick to wear today.  She was so excited, and I grabbed her long enough to get a few shots of us together in the mirror, and ended up getting this one...oh my...my new favorite.  And the band-aid on her leg is for "sticker" purposes only, no injury ;)
...and I got a couple of her with one of the teachers, Ms. Brittany...this one is my favorite...
So which one was Emma going to dress as today...she has always said that Ariel is her favorite so...
...nope...she decides to be Cinderella ;)  She has been into the Cars Movie, Thomas the Train, and the Princesses...she is a well rounded girl.  But she is definitely ALL girl when it comes to changing her mind ;)
I had to add this group shot too...because I think Emma really started to like Caroline, to the right of her a lot.  She wanted her to dance with her again today...but Caroline has two older sisters that came today, so she was a little distracted.  I think this is the first time I've seen Emma really take to someone like this and want to play WITH them instead of just along side of them.
And the last treasure to take home was a crown...then she set down the crown somewhere, so we had to get another one...and yep...she changed her mind...we came home with a blue crown ;)

It looks like she has been all banged up...but I think the red spot on her forehead is a reaction from a mosquito bite.  The white spot on her cheek has been there for about two months, so not sure what that is.  It started out dry and patchy, which Cedaphil took care of, but the white is still there.  And the marks on her arm are from her being very busy doing lots of drawings.  She not only likes her markers, but now she has discovered she likes my Sharpie poster paint markers...sigh...
And I've been busy putting together a little mini-album of her Princess Ballet class.  I was so inspired by Paige Evans' mini album in the Scrapbook Trends album using the sticky-back canvas with patterned paper transfer for the cover.  Then I was also inspired by how Amy Tangerine puts her mini-albums together, which I cannot wait for her new line to come out.  You can spy some of the cut-outs on the front of this album that I cut using the Silhouette (the girl silhouette and the hanger).

I just took way too many pictures ;)  It's a lot of pages and I sewed down the middle.  I love it, but it is a little stiff on the front page.    I could have tried doing the holes in the center, and then tying ribbon from the outside to bind it.  Maybe another time.  I had tags and other things to bind with it, and sewing it seemed more secure.  It wasn't so bad I felt I had to ditch all the work I had already done.  I've made so many little books in the past, just needed the spark of inspiration to start doing more of these.  Really like the less bulk for storing it.

So I just have the pictures from today to add and it's done...but not tonight.  I've really started to get into my Smash book...so I may play with that a little tonight...

2 Years Ago...Happy Family Day!!!

2 years ago yesterday was the first time meeting Emma.
And today is the day we officially added another Roebuck to the family.  Emma couldn't be more perfect in every way.  We are so blessed to have this special little girl.

And, as you can see, Emma is much more of a handful than ever.  Just like 2 was a jolt in trying to keep up with her, 3 is worse so far...God help us ;)

Thank you, Wendy, for the dress...it is so adorable on her!
I kept telling her to work the camera.  She loves making these pouty faces...such a drama girl...I love this in black and white...
...this is the original...
Don't remember exactly when...but soon after turning 2, no more naps in her bed.  Sometimes she'll fall asleep in the car.  But chickadee is not ready for no naps, as much as she fights it or thinks she doesn't need it.  She is still not catching up on sleep since the 4th of July weekend...and once we went out in the car...she got some much needed sleep...thank God...
Oh, it's so hard being 3...
goofy little thing...
she had fun letting me takes some pictures of her...working it...
...then she finally said no more pictures...
We went out to eat for lunch at one of our fav restaurants.  Emma slept for about 45 minutes once we got back in the car.

We picked up the cake and were ready to sing, "Happy Family Day."  This just makes me smile...love it!
Love my Family!

Snow White is Up Next at Princess Ballet

I always take a few shots to make sure the settings are right for exposure...and I happened to get this one of Emma already excited and ready to dance!
I love her face...so sweet...Snow White is next!
Dressed up as Snow White and finding her in the Look Book...
 A little pirouette and curtsy...
 Saying goodbye to Snow White...
And only one more class left.  It flew by so fast...

Harry Potter, Living with a 3 Year Old, and More Scrapbooking

I had emailed my friend, Linda, this picture showing her no lines yet for the final Harry Potter movie.  That's the good thing of living in the suburbs...it did pick up a little, but no long lines.
I knew how it ended.  But even though I had read Deathly Hallows a couple of times, it was awhile ago.  So I went just thinking, great, I get to see the last movie forgetting how emotional it was.  I should have brought kleenex...

thought it was funny having Harry Potter and the new Winnie the Pooh movie starting on the same day.  Even though Emma is afraid of Harry Potter right now, I don't think she would do well with the loud surround sound...so maybe in the safety of our home, we'll watch this when it comes out later...
Chickadee has really been just a whole lot more of everything since turning 3.  Just like when she turned 2, we saw changes happening so fast, 3 is showing the same signs.  She is so ready for school again to start back up again.  I know she is going to love it.
And I've managed to sneak in some scrapbooking.  With chickadee scrapping next to me and submitting work to scrapbook magazines for publication consideration, it has all made me be a little more organized with scrapping...although it is very time consuming.  But worth it.

I finally have these pictures from our trip to have "tea."  That face cracks me up.
I finally am starting to scrap some photos of Emma with her Aunts.  This one is of her with Aunt Denise when she came down to visit the month after my Mother-in-Law passed away suddenly.  So we were very excited that Denise was still able to come down.

I originally was going to scrap more than one photo, but I loved this Fancy Pants Spring Fever script paper, that I thought the one photo could really stand out...and such a cute one...I just love the look on her face riding that pony.  She absolutely loved it!
I was really just wanting the design of the circles, brads, thread, etc.  Then I started thinking that this would do well with the photo of me taking a picture of myself in the car visor.  I used a negative I had cut out using the Silhouette to help bring the "focus" to the picture and the theme of the layout.
Not the best photo...taken with Dennis' iPhone, but I just really wanted to document this transition of her to her Big Girl bed...
I remember this day like it was yesterday, and it was 7 mos ago, so I'm glad I documented how crazy we were to go to the zoo when it was freezing cold!
And a better picture of the frame with the double mat that I decorated for Emma's birthday.  I originally just wanted to have everyone sign the mat, but the double mat wasn't fitting well in the frame.  So that's when at 10 p.m. the night before her birthday, I took the glass out and started decorating it.  The lanyard with the star was part of the kids' party favors.  Emma didn't wear hers, so I draped it over the frame.  I love the layered look it gives with it...
Here's what the frame looks like without draping the lanyard and star over it...
We hung it up in the kitchen...it makes me smile and remember how she was letting loose at the end of one of her ballet classes...I think she was also copying a little bit of Lightning McQueen...so the lanyard, which she picked out, goes even better with the picture ;)

Scrapbooking, Getting Published, Harry Potter

I have really been trying to be more organized by writing down what products I use on layouts/mini albums and submitting them to magazines for consideration to be published.  I think it's a full time job doing it or else my day just does not allow for me to spend that much time on something else other than something involving chickadee.  I guess it's always that balancing act with everything.

But I am very excited and shocked because I got two things picked up for publication in Scrapbook Trends magazine.  One, I've removed from my blog and galleries already but another I haven't gotten a chance to even post yet...so unless there are space constraints for their magazine, a layout and a mini album will be published in their December magazine.  So thankful and excited!  And Emma will see herself in the magazine!

So here's some layouts that I can post that I've done in the past month or two...
This one is all about the Spring flowers...Emma was so excited about them and watering her daylilies and watching them grow, that I wanted to put this together...
A little different...not masculine, but I thought it fit the title "One of a Kind."  Because Dennis is very much not your typical husband.  I'll cook, sometimes ;) but he cleans. This layout talks about how involved he is with Emma and I on a day to day basis...

I finally documented about the necklace I wear almost daily...means a lot to me...
I am not a cardmaker.  I do them, because I can't see buying a card when I can put something together.  But this one I actually liked.  The moon stamp is from the Studio Calico June Kit, on sale by itself now.  I used white American Craft embossing powder.
it was a card for my niece...(I think I was in anticipation of the final movie for Harry Potter)
A fun and quick one to put together...
This one took a little more time.  I used the Silhouette to cut the squares from different patterned papers, so had to do that during the day, working around chickadee, which is a challenge in and of itself...I knew I wanted the "Hip to be Square" because of the silly, dorky photo with her and the goggles...so that part of the design went together quickly...
And  challenge 176 Three Little Birds by Bob Marley is up next on Scrapping the Music.  I love the fun, carefree feel of the song, so I wanted to incorporated that in my layout.  I chose just one word from the song, "singing" to go with these pictures of my daughter being carefree and excited about her first day back at ballet.  Please come join us.  We have a new look to the blog.  We've had a lot of changes in our design team, but we still have some great women and looking for more who share our love of being inspired to scrap the music.  If you're interested in joining our design team, please email Jennifer at happy2scrap4life@hotmail.com
Dennis is able to watch chickadee while I go see the final Harry Potter movie...Emma is scared of Harry Potter right now for obvious reasons.  So when she heard us saying where I was going she said, "I'm worried about you, Momma."  She must think I'll get hurt or scared.  When I tried to buy the tickets online yesterday, she started crying.  So I'm going grocery shopping instead of seeing HP...but you and me know that I'm really going to see HP...

Princess Belle is Next

Today's princess at Princess Ballet was....Belle...
The regular teachers weren't there...and I think Emma still did great, but I think she missed them...
Emma is going to be a teachers helper.  She loved helping when she went to school from January to May of this year.  And she is going to love her new teachers...but anyway...she is helping here with setting up...
...the princess hopscotch to practice Echappe (opening and closing the feet).  I think that's one of her favorites...
Okay...different teacher...I think she saw me trying to get a few more pictures of Emma in her Belle costume...and decided to line the kids up for a group shot...well, Emma never does well with group shots.  Will have to work on teaching her to smile ;)
 Saying goodbye to Belle...
...very proud of how she interacts with all of the girls...and shares...
...and now anxiously waiting for the treasure to take home...
It's a purse, and she picked the blue purse!  Then it's time to dance one last time...
 She has got some moves...
and then we were off to Target for shopping...she had some money from her Paw Paw and picked out Mator...she is very well rounded I'd say...
