Not A Princess, but...

Emma said to me before we left for Princess Ballet today that she didn't want to close her eyes for the surprise to see who the next princess is.  As you can see too, she didn't want to wear her ballet outfit either ;)  So she was not wanting to do this part where you close your eyes to be surprised, but Misty said she didn't have too ;)  Today was...TINKERBELL...not a princess, but still a very big icon along with all of the Disney princesses.
Emma wasn't too sure who Tinkerbell was.  I had gotten her some Cars and Tinkerbell stickers for Easter and she happened to be playing with them on the ride this morning.  She looked down at the sticker she had put on her, looked at me and gave the biggest SMILE.  It clicked and she instantly loved the whole fairy thing...
She had fun as you can see...but she wasn't too sold on the whole pixie dust thing.  They didn't use anything, just pretend...and maybe that's what she didn't get.  I told her with pixie dust you can do anything, like fly like a fairy...but with her, I had to tell her it is all pretend because she is a very literal person...a lot like me...

Trying to catch her doing her thing...she loved it.
But for some reason...this started last week too...she is not wanting to do this part of the class...marching around...she's come a long way of going out and doing things on her own now, so I'm still very proud of how well she has done...
And time to get their goodbye stickers...and wearing her little "treasure" she gets to take home.  The teacher didn't say what she normally says, "come get your treasure to keep for ever and ever."  So when we left, Emma thought she wasn't supposed to bring the little fairy crown home.  I told her it was okay, it's meant for her to bring home, and she was absolutely right...the teacher didn't say...
She wanted to play dress up after lunch today and wear her new little fairy crown...I don't know what they call those...but you know what I mean...

Tacos, Biscuits, Mickey, and Power Outage

Wendy has got me into looking at recipes online a lot more...one is from Pioneer Woman.  I've always liked PW for her photography stuff...but never really tried any of the recipes until Wendy got me into it.  So saw this on PWs blog and tried it.  They are fried chicken tacos!  Oh my!  Messy to cook, but really doesn't take too long.  We've had a chance to try these with regular flour shells (shown below), wheat shells, and corn shells (what the recipe calls for).  So far our favorite for flavor are the corn shells...but the flour shells seemed to work better with frying and held up much better...Here's the recipe.
And just a few moments from the past few days...from this past weekend when chickadee and I made a Hobby Lobby run, then a detour to Target via Cracker Barrel.  Little chickadee said she was wanting some biscuits.  How southern is that?!  And that's mayonnaise on her mouth, not gravy...yeah, doesn't sound good to me either.
And onto Target...could not resist taking a photo of how gorgeous the clouds were looking...absolutely stunning!  No one was coming behind so had to stop and get the shot...
And this one is from today...our run by the post office...I put her in her seat and couldn't believe how funny the Mickey Mouse balloon looked through the window.  She got the balloon from her and Dada's running around yesterday...  Anyway...had to grab the iPhone and shoot.  I don't know what I was doing...it looks like I was telling Mickey to say "cheese".  He's there though...nice reflection of the sky again.  I realized in the middle of the night that I was sleeping with Mickey.  He's a little balloon on a stick and she had tucked him under the covers right next to me...I noticed he's not sleeping with me tonight though ;)
And thankfully just about 3 1/2 or so hours of no power last night.  A transformer caught fire right by our house.  A little scary.  And chickadee cried a few times because she couldn't get the concept that you can't turn on a light, you can't turn the TV on, you can't turn the computer on...but what really got her to cry even more was when it was bath time and she had to use a lamp to take a bath...yep, I took it with her ;)
After she fell asleep, I snuck out as usual and did a little scrapping by lamp...
Lots going on this week.  We will have our new A/C put in!  It's been 15 years and we've been warned that we are on borrowed time.  So refinancing and getting that burden over with.  I think it will help in monthly costs in the long run being a better unit.

Ready for some down time to watch White Collar.

Will post later this week as to which princess is next in the Princess Ballet.

2 Peas Prize, Smashing, Easter Mini, and Dare #178

I got my prize from Two Peas in a Bucket for the Maya Road challenge...Emma has already had fun with them...
Emma and I have been having fun using our Smash books this Summer...she saw me paint mine, so she did the same ;)
Wrote a little something in her book...don't know if it will survive until she appreciates it...she's already tried to glue something down on the writing...
She LOVES...I do mean like seriously LOVES tape...so she is loving the Smash tape...she likes to just grab anything and put it in her book ;)  She does love the pumpkin bread at Starbucks...so she was excited to put the napkin in her book...
Since she is loving tape, I ordered some Mark Washi tape (Japanese masking tape) from Cute Tape.  It's easier for her to just tear (although she loves to cut A LOT) and stick down...which she does a lot of too ;)
After her dentist appt, I told her to get a card from her doctor and put in her book...
and these are some packaging from her toys for rewarding her for doing so well with using the potty and/or toilet here and especially for doing so well when we go out and using the public toilets...
And she got a hold of the stamps I got from Two Peas...I really don't need to buy her special stamps...she does so well with mine ;)  Did a little handprint there too...
And this is mine...this is what started the painting on hers...
I still have my other art journal that unfortunately gets neglected...so hoping to use this as just putting little tidbits into.  Have to say, a little disappointed in the book.  It was supposed to be "retro."  It's more vintage than what I would call retro.  But very cute idea...
my entry about my day at the movie...went to see Pirates 4...loved it!  Was so refreshed after a day of me getting entertained for a change...
 And just cuttings from magazines...
Finished this little Easter 2011 mini album.  Used lots of coordinating paper to make the pages.  Picked this scalloped design and cut it with the Silhouette.  Wanted it to be a little frilly...and just something different...  The bunny, the branch, flower, and eggs are cut with Silhouette too...
little things documented to remember to always do...
how funny it was that Emma started to use the remote for the camera to take the pictures ;)
just fun and easy to put together...
Really inspired by the galleries with so many of the circle designs.  I really am challenged when it comes to using pictures cut as circles...but I like the way it came out.

Spending our first Easter day with Merrin and her family...
Great memories, and Emma loves to look at the mini albums I make...
Love how old and new products work so well together.  Cosmo Cricket DeLovely chipboard stickers and Sassafras Lass Mix patterned paper with Pebbles paper and toothpick flags.  And love that Studio Calico newspaper stamp on the Kraft circle.
And I'm having fun too using the tape ;)
Emma loving having the attention of Mr. Joey ;)
I love being able to cut the circles, and shapes with the Silhouette...it helped make this go together so well...
A little note for Chickadee of yet another one of Mom's mini albums...
And I saw on the Studio Calico boards that the Dares are back...challenge #178...the challenge prompt is "Because Of."  So many things to do with it...thought about documenting the change in having a little one around.  But with us spending so much more time with Merrin and how amazing it is that Emma will have this special relationship growing up...I pushed myself to document it.  Loving the circles lately, so tried to incorporate part of the title as a circle...

"Because of The Rumor Queen a/k/a China Adopt Talk and Blogging"
The journaling reads:  ”Both born in Changsha, Hunan, China and both spent their first year together as crib friends in the same orphanage - I congratulate all of the other families that posted their referrals on the Rumor Queen site - So amazing to find another family, because of the RQ and blogging, to live only an hour away from us to be bringing home one of Emma’s crib friends.  How blessed we are to see them grow up together.”
It really amazes me that these girls can grow up together...and all because of the Internet...very thankful

BFFs at Princess Ballet

Not the best picture, but Emma was soooo excited to have...
...her BF, Merrin, come to princess ballet with her.
Emma jumping up picking up the balls....but Merrin didn't take long for her to join right in...
Merrin loved all of the ballet exercises...
Emma is sitting next to Misty, to the far left, and Merrin is all the way over to the right between the two ladies.  Still fun for Emma to be surprised by what princess they will dress as for class, but Merrin just right away loved it...
Briar Rose, a/k/a Princess Aurora, a/k/a Sleeping Beauty.  I had to research this at one of our trips to Barnes, because I felt like I was princess callenged...but now I know all of the aliases are one in the same...Princess Aurora...  Emma was so proud and excited.  She really loves doing the dress ups...
Didn't realize she was doing this until editing the photos...so sweet...
And Merrin...well, look at her sweet face, that girl has a smile that is contagious, and she absolutely loved everything about the class, even the dressing up...
Emma doing her little tippy toe turn and curtsy...
...Merrin...you would never have known that this was her first time!
Now, Emma and I had a rough nights sleep the night before, so I knew she'd be a little loopy.  Well...the sillies started...
She was being so goofy and silly...
 Merrin joined in too!
Yuck, I know...I wouldn't normally let her lick the mirror, but how funny they are...two silly girls...
So glad that Wendy and Merrin drove all the way over to spend the day with us...we went out to eat, then went shopping at Hobby Lobby, and then...
...went to Menchies for yogurt...well, I think the girls liked the sprinkles the most...
Yes, Emma getting a little wired and crazed over the sprinkles ;)
They are so cute and so different too.  Emma loves to have things just so...if something is moved out of place, she wants it back.  I didn't realize it at first that Merrin had erased some of Emma's drawings when Emma just looked at me.  I missed it, but then I got it...it was the look she gives me when she doesn't like it when someone is doing something she doesn't like.  Wendy told Emma later to erase something of Merrin's ;)  Oh, they are full of personality.
They were both getting pretty loopy and tired...thankfully they both got a little bit of sleep on the way home...
Love seeing these two together...a fun "girls" day...
