I'll Raise you 4 Glucosmine Tablets

I don't drink fresh wheatgrass juice everyday, I don't obsess over NEVER putting trans fat in my body or high fructose syrup...I'm finally getting back to normal eating, and feeling great again, not starved, not in fear of losing control, just not obsessed.

I hate the media, I do not watch awards shows with superstars or models, that was part of my healing and getting away from what the world views as beautiful.  Dennis on the other hand, will always have junk on TV...and had the set on in the sewing room with E tonight, I think it was...anyway...I stopped sewing and was glued to the set as the story unfolded on Jessica Simpson's weight gain, I think they called it...rather than her curves.  But I was so glad to see that they did have some kind of specialists there and they the question was raised..."what does this say to everyone about beauty, about body image, about weight?"  Exactly!  From reading different books...the media is actually me and everyone.  So unless "we" start to change how we think, nothing will change.  I love Tyra Banks for stepping up as well...I love any woman who has risen above skinniness or being thin as beautiful ONLY...and recognizes all women in all shapes in sizes as beautiful.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the way Jessica looks.  I think she is gorgeous.  I love her curves, I love her clothes, always have loved her hair.  I think this one will go on my vision board as well as the one of Jennifer Love-Hewitt...it's not because of the superstar skinny status...I'm so happy to see the media slowly changing...I don't know how Jessica is handling this, but I hope she is telling the media to kiss her ass!!!

Some "good" choices of foods...  I decided to pick these Zone bars up to give them a try.  I really do like them.  I can't go to the extreme anymore and eat crap that doesn't taste good...but these really were good...I call tell a little that they are healthy...but not gross...
I do love fruits...sometimes just don't know what kind of fruit I want or having to wash it and cut it...and really how hard is it?!  But picked a few things...and took a double take at the Japanese pears the store had...and grabbed a couple...nothing like the real thing while you're in Japan.  I've never had fruit taste so good before while in Japan.  I've already eaten one and it's not wow, but it's not bad...kind of tough and not really sweet yet...so kind of tart...
I was so shocked to see my sister's email...the one two years older than me say that she finally went to the rheumatologist about her fingers starting to bend and saying that the doc did say she has the beginnings of osteo-arthritis...the exact thing Mom had.  She's in good spirits and is thankful...it could always be worse...like the scare of cancer...  But she will get her results in about a week as to the damage done already.  She's been taking Glucosamine...which I do know from my health nut days how beneficial this stuff is...although the cost of being a health nut isn't in the budget and can get a little extreme as I took it.  I spent probably like $300 a month on vitamins and supplements...yes, extreme.  But she has seen her swelling go down and feeling a little better.  And...my foot is not working with me, but against me for the past two weeks...and I'm trying to be in the present and accept that this is how it is right now.  I don't like having to 'get' off my feet, or limp, or have the twinge of pain.  And Lisa is so good at research and found that the Ibuprofin kind of works against your bones and prevents healing.  But the Glucosamine helps with the healing of not just joints, but tendons!!!!!  Okay...so it may not be the "best" quality brand...but I'm going to try these.  I just don't feel anything when I take Ibuprofin and don't see any changes...so I jumped on this to try instead...this is the better mix to take with Chondroitin and MSM...so will see!
Dennis is still resting and ready for his half marathon this Sunday.  Sounds like he's still planning on getting a room down there, and hoping he can get one of the other guys he knows to share it with him...but either way...he'll be there.  He'll be getting the photos they take of them, and will have those posted whenever we get them...

Making 'It' Your Own

I will always love Starbucks, and will always go to Starbucks or any coffee place really...I just love coffee and tea.  I have tried to do my own latte at home...it was okay...but had recently picked up a copy of the Food Network magazine, and saw a much better way to do this, and it worked.  So make your own coffee latte or here I made my own London Fog (Earl Grey latte) that you get at Starbucks.  (1)  Fill a mug halfway with milk and heat on high in the microwave until hot, 45 to 60 seconds (I do longer).  (2)  place a whisk inside the mug and, with the handle between your palms, spin the whisk back and forth to froth the milk.  (3)  Add home-brewed coffee (in the picture in the mag, they use what I use to brew the coffee, a coffee press, which I think is going to be a better coffee taste...but I think an automatic would be just fine)  or espresso to the frothed milk - and relish the fact that you're saving $3.61 a day!  That's it straight from the magazine...and OMG...I've finally gotten that same latte experience at home!  For tea, just steep your tea as you normally do in another cup and then pour over the frothed milk like I did here!!!!
More making it your own...decided to take pictures along the way as I did this.  I bought the little clock at Walmart for $3...yes $3 dollars, I did a double take and put that thing in the cart.  I have loved decorating the clocks since taking the Heidi Swapp class...but now I'm making it my own, using some fun Sassafras and an inspiring quote that goes along with my Loving Myself in 2009 class.  I also spelled out L O V E M Y S E L F 0 9 on each number around the clock.  Those little tiny alphas are the Making Memories kind...love those things and can never have enough...
So any clock has a way to get in there...this one is super easy...the top pops off.  But check the back of one you have and see if there are screws...sometimes you just have to go through the back...just be a little more careful...
You can see a little piece of white coming out of the black here on the back of the clock, it's a little tab...you push that in, and pull the top cover off, and it pops off...
So now I have my bare face clock to decorate.  Now I've taken the hands off before, but you do it carefully...pull them straight up, but don't force.  These didn't give, and I finally decided it was best to leave them as is and work around them...just change the time on the back to move them out of your way...
Start decorating.  I wanted to work from the center out...just like you would do with a scrapbook page really.  The main difference is having to work around the center stem and hands.

So to get the cloud around the stem, I punched a hole about where I wanted it, used my craft knife to make a slit all the way down...then worked it over the stem...Andrea Wiebe has heard about this glue from Wilna and I picked it up from Michael's and have been using it ever since.  It's not great as far as photos or some patterned papers...because you can see the streaks from underneath...but I still use it on just about anything but just use a little to cover the back so I don't see it...I still love Tombow for other things though...but this stuff here works great at being able to move fast to get paper to stick and dry quickly...so you can move on...
So now just go to town and do like you do when you make a layout.  I used a quote that really spoke to me.  "Whatever you do will be insignificant but it is very important that you do it."  Gandhi  -   It made me think about exercising in particular...especially with having to take it easy while my foot still heals...that workout that I do today will not be any big deal, I may even not workout as hard as I did yesterday, but it is a big deal to do it, because all those little insignificant workouts will build and before I know it, my foot will be so much better that I won't have to wear a brace anymore, I'll shed some of this extra weight I've packed on, I'll think better and be clearer minded, I'll have more energy, I'll Love Myself in 2009 for real!

Okay, so back to the clock.  Don't be afraid, especially with a $3 clock to just do whatever you want...
Pop the front cover back on
You can see the little tab here too that the cover fits into...

...and you've made your clock your own...there's not another one like it...

Happy New Year!

I happened to post on a thread at SIStv for photography goals...one of which was to have a new lens by the time we go to China.  One of the fashionistas and a professional photographer was selling the exact lens I was wanting!!!  I got it this weekend and have been practing with it ever since!  OMG...the lens...DOES make a difference!!!   Now I've added a camera/purse bag as a wishlist item...even Dennis admitted...having my purse plus camera bag is a bit much and the to have Emma's bag...don't think so...so this bag and a camera strap are on my new list!  Wouldn't mind the little one too.

Did this digital Layout over on Scrapblog with some photos I took today of going to our favorite Chinese Restaurant...

I think something is coming
very
soon!

Couldn't believe when Dennis opened his fortune what it said!!!!
And some pics with my new lens and some photo editing in Photoshop Elements...these make me feel so good!!!

Good luck, Good fortune, Good health

Just Living in the Present

Have been really digging into the assignments and myself with the Love Yourself in 2009 class with Ashley over at SIStv.  Got my binder together...
...using the quotes she gave us and decorated the binder...
...have the current days log on top...
...and then put them to the back with the others...move an icon to a goal I've completed, and the bottom is to do whatever I feel...
Two of the assignments were to use the icon cards that represent not so good for me and good for me as far as food habits...I combined the two...the idea hit me like right when I went to bed, and had to sketch it out before I forgot...it really feels good to get this kind of deep stuff out...but making it fun too...
...assignment to create a vision board...I want to keep adding...so just a start to some things or people who inspire me.  You know, the media got on to Jennifer Love-Hewitt for her weight!  LOL!!!!  I'd love to have her badonkadonk!!!  But even better than her appearance, I totally loved the way she handled the media, and it made me love her even more...cuz I HATE the media...screw them!  And I don't want to look like the blonde there either...it's just the shirt I like...although I like the way she frames the board ;)
...assignment...to do a layout of an accomplishment...no matter how small or big...and it's been really difficult, with being out of shape, laid up with the foot, and having foot pain and having to back off of doing anything again...so anyway, I want to 'try' keeping my foot pain in check, to be consistent with yoga...and did it for two weeks, 4 classes...my foot isn't too great right now, but I have to kind of push it a little, not too much though...icing it and staying off of it now ;)  sucks...    anyway, the journaling reads...

Namaste
Bring your Mat to your world
practice
be gentle
breathe
do not resist
acceptance
...assignment...to take a photo, use it as an 8x10 and put your beliefs or mantras all over it...this was soooo freaking good to do!!!!!!!!!  Get it out there!
...assignment...my contract with myself...although, I'm calling it 'my code.'  Something else I've wanted to get out and get in writing...
Going in line with the class...I created this Layout for my January calendar using that awesome quote that just speaks to me so much from Eckhart Tolle...
...okay, enough of class stuff...when we went to get the picture of me at yoga...all of a sudden I hear this VERY LOUD THUD!!!  Dennis had tripped and fallen over his own feet!!!!  Got pics of him on the floor after...what a nut!
He's fine...he's really training hard right now for the half marathon.  He's really meeting a lot of other runners from the yoga class...I'm so glad he came with me that one day to see it wasn't wimpy or girly...it's pretty intense...although, not this intense...*sigh*
Not class stuff, but scrap stuff...one of my last things I used my $$ for from Christmas...I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!  I think it is the best, well-thought out scrapbook type book I've ever gotten.  It's by Claudine Hellmuth, she is a fashionista at SIStv and is known for her collages...very creative girl...and I'm loving her paints!!!  This book is so stinkin fun!  This will be fun with kids too.
It's more of a kit, with cards...you draw two cards from each stack, and you have to scrap what the cards say...very cool!!!  And the little book is packed with lots of people I know...it was so exciting to see them in this awesome book!!!
This was so gorgeous I had to post...well, and I love cats!  My cat friend, Kyoko from Japan sent me one of her beautiful New Year's cards with her gorgeous, I mean, drop dead gorgeous Pirako along with the cute stuffed paper cat and the accordian cat card!!!  Just love it!!!
"For the Record...We Had Snow!!!"  We really did...still can't believe.  Had to document this record by making an album out of a vinyl album and the pages are cut from the album cover.  I didn't use my own album and cover, it was from the Homebody Collection at SIStv.  That particular kit doesn't look available anymore, but I've got the others...and they are wonderful!  Will be digging into them soon!
for the album cover pages...I gessoed them and then mixed two paints of Claudine Hellmuth and Heidi Swapp polka dot mask to make the pages.  Took me awhile, as it usually does, to get the idea going, but once I like how something's looking, I'm on a roll...I'm just not a fast scrapper.
Besides pictures I took, used the news online to print out and include in the album...

These pictures are from some very talented people off of Flickr...

...Not really a card maker, but have really wanted to do a lot so far...and wanted to do Chinese New Year cards, but really didn't want to have to buy ANYTHING to make them.  So using my Slice, and papers and glimmer mist I already had, I made these for the family...
My MIL, and aunts and uncles on both sides don't have computers...so gave them an update of our adoption...
This is a really special LO...

...the journaling actually got me a little emotional on this one...and I'm not the mushy type when it comes to babies...  But thinking about how happy and content we have been, and this huge change to come for us to share that with another...it's a very scary and exciting time for us...especially me...
added lots of stuff to this LO...the flower I learned to make from taking Andrea Wiebe's class at SIStv...
Doing a rainbow swap on the SIStv boards.  I picked three colors from ROY G. BIV

RED
YELLOW
BLUE

Going to enjoy the rest of Sunday and finally cook that dish that I couldn't do because of my foot and getting a little too on a roll with making stuff...
Dennis is doing a two hour run, and may get Starbucks after...

Tomorrow is the beginning of the Chinese New Year!  We're going to celebrate by going to our favorite Chinese restaurant!
