Mega Blog

Okay, I feel like tons to post, so I'm using pics instead of your having to read through a long post...I'll try.

We added new products to our website, Pillows 4 Me!!! Inspired by Amy Tangerine's beautiful shirts, we made 14" square pillows using a reverse applique technique.
We have these reverse applique pillows for now and will add more later. Either of these are available in green or brown.
And we will also have the pillows available with our current upholstery fabrics. Check out our site and let us know what you think!
Season Finales!!!!!! OMG, they really left you hanging, esp. with David Caruso on CSI Miami!! He got shot, for sure, but will he die???!!! Ghost Whisperer...whose shadow is not there???!!! CSI Las Vegas - Warren shot!!! Grey's - WOW speechless. Moonlight - Mick and Beth finally??!!
Elsie Challenge #16, to scrap a topic...also worked out for the One Little Word challenge - Think Used this photo of me at a 10k two years ago.

FINALLY...I have been wanting to see this movie since it came out! Lots of words to describe this movie. Really loved it. I think I could relate to every character in the movie.
LOVED LOVED LOVED Elizabeth - the Golden Age

Thanks to Dean :D convincing Dennis to use NetFlix, we've watched a good selection so far of movies. P.S. I Love You - I couldn't help it, I cried from the very beginning all the way through to the end. But it's not a bad cry. Loss of someone is inevitable and it will always hurt...but it is a part of life and this was amazing. See it!! So amazing, I was inspired to do a layout from it. I tell Dennis all the time that I'm dying before him. The pic is of our hands having tea and lunch on Valentine's Day. I wrote: Dear Dennis, Growing old together with you is all I want. P.S. I Love You Altered the photo in Adobe first but also after...used micro beads and heavy duty sticky paper and stuck them all on top of the photo...brayer them down really good.

I have really been loving Doctor Who. Have seen some of the 2005 episodes with doctor #9, but mostly the ones with David Tennant as #10 doctor. The Doctor regenerates, so he never dies. Been around since 1963 in the UK. I really love Sci-Fi! This is great. And if you recognize David, he was Barty Crouch, Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

And "The Doctor" inspired me so much, I did this layout. Showing some love to the Doctor and his companions. Got him set on my DVR. Oh, yeah, baby.

I probably did more than I need for the SISiversary coming up. They are ATC (Artist Trading Cards), kind of like business cards, but for artsy kind of people who just love to see what others create and, well, it's just fun to swap with others. I did a Nouveau theme using a collage from ArtChix.com.
I'll have to post a whole other blog about this book. Wow...very confusing, but enlightening at the same time.
It inspired me to make this canvas:

Had been adding leftover paint to this canvas for awhile now and decided it had enough paint on it. I love this!!

Haven't posted in awhile about Byetta and how's it going. Up to 10 mcg...very very very tough adjustment. Still having issues every now and then. Very nauseated, weak, dizzy sometimes, very tired. Certain foods I think make it worse, which I try to avoid. But I have been drinking Reed's Ginger drinks...real ginger...so it helps...also Bicardi Mojitos have helped a lot ;) Seriously, they do...just settles the stomach. But other than the side effects, I feel great, eating more like a normal person again, and very pleased with the results.
I couldn't help but look at Daisy, in her new environment, and think she looks like a homeless person, but a cat. She is loving being outside still. And good thing because she did come in little and peed on my bench...she's not right, acting like an old person and not sure where she is, otherwise, she's great! Really great!! She was only back in the litter box for 3 days and has been out, eats like there's no tomorrow, poops, pees.
We've been doing the fluids on our own for her for awhile now and it helps so much. She's not stressed with the drive and visit to the vet, and only distressed a little bit for this. Lisa was over, so I was able to get some shots of it.

We put her on the dryer and hang the bag from a hanger on the door. We cover her up like a burrito...she doesn't like it one bit, but it really doesn't hurt her.
It just looks like it would! Ouch! But cat's skin is very different from ours...it still looks kind of painful.
And she loves to eat, you wouldn't think she's sick. She scarfed up these treats after her fluids and totally forgot about it.
This was a great challenge from Scrapjacked. They scrapjacked Kate O'Brien...beautiful person. I love using alcohol inks, like the Ranger brand. It comes out great on b/w photos. So wanted that for this, but for some reason, maybe the paper...don't know, it smeared the ink of the photo as well...but I went with it...kind of fit the project.

Did this for my May calendar. Really wanted something kind of deep. I had the photo of my hands over my heart and edited it, so when I saw the word "Permission" from The Dares book, it went together. Exactly what I wanted to feel in this layout. And I love this new color of paint I picked up, FolkArt Plum Vineyard, that I painted around the photo.
With the editing of the photo and printing it directly on the pink cardstock, I love the way it glows, esp. against the window.

I made the Catwalk again at SIStv!!!!!!!!!!

Me, making the catwalk...can't believe! Well, not really me, but this layout. JJ was the one who picked mine too, which is really a cool thing because one of her 5 children is adopted from China. So she knows what all is involved.

This really made my day! Been kind of feeling bummed yesterday and today. Mother's day really wasn't bad for me. I did think of Mom, but didn't really get sad. Only had one little sad moment Saturday when I pulled into the drive and two blue birds, male and female, flew past me and landed on the basketball goal and then flew off to a tree. That was kind of about a 1 minute gut wrenching moment thinking of Mom. She loved blue birds, and I knew those were meant for me to see. And have been seeing them the rest of the weekend and week. As far as me being a Mom, that really doesn't affect me in a bad way. I'm more reluctant to be a Mom, so I think that's why. And there are so many ways to nurture and care for others, that being what we know as a "Mom" doesn't affect me.

But one thing that really has me in a slump is Daisy. She's back in her litter box. She's still staying outside in the screened area, but I really hate to see her in her box because that's when I know she's really not feeling good. And then we go again about putting her to sleep, but it's so hard to make that final decision. She's not in pain, just not feeling good. We did go back to just once a week with the fluids, and just changed back to twice a week...so we will see if that helps her bounce back.

And, a big thing to get you kind of down is the earthquake in China. I can barely watch the news. Just going through what we went through with Katrina, it just breaks my heart to see the devastation over there, people without homes, killed, alone. It is really a trigger to feelings I had during that time. And praying is all I can do right now for them, but we hope to offer more help later. As far as news about adoptions, I have no idea. I don't think that's something anyone can really answer right now. The time frame for this month is saying March 2009 for our referral, but I just have to think that this will have a much greater impact on the adoptions there.

Creative Getaway

I think that's what I've been on since the Scrap, Etc. Event! As long as it's my hobby, it's my therapy and my creative outlet. So, part of that is looking at things you'd normally pass over in different ways. Like when I used to be able to walk ;) and was on one of my walks one morning, I stole some garbage from a neighbor. Some kind of a/c part, that I want to use for something one day...and then Dennis, out and about in New Orleans on a service call, saw this window frame by the curb. The weather is great, so we started removing the layers of old paint. I know what color I want to paint it, but have some ideas for the glass part...just not for sure. This will hang over our mantle when it's done.

Smells really do make you think of so many things. Every now and then I'd get a whiff of New Orleans in this frame. It actually made me think specifically of City Park. I instantly was brought back to Story Land and the carousel ride there at the park.
This was a challenge from Martha Bonneau over at SIStv. I've been copying her a lot lately. She's just really great at layering.
She is Queen...yes, Daisy is!
This one is inspired from One Little Word challenge blog. The word up is Today. Really loved this word. Did two things actually. Used the SIStv Jim and Pam collection (for the officey feel) for this. My recent fingerprint updates did not go through and were not legible. So I need a police clearance for the USCIS or our I-171 (our USCIS approval to adopt international and Emma's future Visa will be abandoned. Really love documenting the here and now. This instantly went into her book.

I really doubt that Jeanette the creator of SIStv would have time to check my blog, LOL, so taking a chance a posting it here. Going to the 1 year anniversary celebration for SIStv soon and one of the Fashionista's, Jan, asked if we wanted to do a layout for JJ and she would put them all in a book. Had no clue what I wanted to do, but really like how this came out. Used a thick layer of gesso all over cardstock, stamped owls in the gesso, dried, then painted, and smeared with wet wipe, I think I used a couple of different colors, yellow and blue, cause I found out she likes that color combo. Really love the way this came out.

This was inspired by the scrapjacked challenge blog site. And Martha Bonneau was scrapjacked!! I'm really not stalking her. Love this pic of Daisy. And really loved using that gorgeous Hambly with this layout.

This was inspired by the One Little Word challenge blog again. The word up Today. I save everything it seems like. And this was a heavy duty clothes tag I had cut off a shirt and kept. Well, after doing Gigi's National Scrapbooking Day (NSD) journal using a cereal box, I knew I wanted to make a little book out of this. LOVE this!! My little simple reminders for self care inspired by the practice of Yoga. Hangs by my bathroom mirror now.

And this was the journal made from a cereal box. Gigi taught this during NDS at SIStv. Made this little one for Dennis for his running goals. He loved it ;) did another one for Mother's Day for my MIL. Cute and quick! More NSD stuff. Corinne Delis another Fashionista from SIStv had a bunch of challenges for that weekend. One was to do a layout of a major life changing experience...LOL, that wasn't hard for me to do ;)
Another Corinne NSD Challenge. To Rock the Paint...Love Paint!! Love how this came out. Simple, but makes a statement.
Went straight in Emma's book.
Another Corinne challenge. I actually got on the CATWALK last week for this on SIStv. Fashionista, Stacey Fike, picked ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I SERIOUSLY was shocked!!!
We were to journal about our growth...not a hard one for me either. This was JJ's challenge to use yellow and blue, butterflies, 17 brads. I really hated this. Still don't really like it. Just didn't come together that great. But some things about it I do like. You always have those so so things you do.

If you made it to the end of this post, good for you!!! I've done my quota for the day/week!!!
